The Location

The William Backus Hospital located in Norwich CT. The William W. Backus Hospital health system includes a not-for profit, 213-bed hospital in Norwich and numerous off-site locations, including several health centers, Backus Home Health Care and Backus Outpatient Care Center, also Norwich. Backus offers the only trauma center in New London and Windham counties and is the only area hospital with LIFE STAR helicopter services, in partnership with Harford Hospital.  A new Backus Emergency Care Center offers emergency services 24 hours per day, seven days per week, as well as diagnostic imaging and laboratory services. The Backus Medical Staff includes approximately 300 physicians offering a wide range of healthcare services.

Position Requirements

  • Assists in the directing and coordinating of activities in the Anesthesia Department
  • Responsible for the medical management of patients who are rendered unconscious and/or insensible to pain and emotional stress during surgery and other medical procedures
  • M.D./D.O. Degree from an accredited College of Medicine
  • ECFMC and FLEX
  • Completion of approved Residency in Anesthesia
  • Currently licensed as a Physician
